I am having a heat problem in my 36 cassette, 38 bulb full HP stand up. I was using Phillips 250-500w, but customers were not happy. Switch to supra 400-500w and customers loved them, but I just metered them after approx 100 hours, 50% drop in power. What should I use for my hot box with 500w ballast. Need something that can take the heat and will keep my customers happy.

The Supra lamp is more of a 400W lamp. I would recommend using a Magic Sun 500W or the Philips 400W 30S with the gold ends. These lamps have a much larger diameter & will hold up better with the 500W ballast & the heat of that unit.
I would also check the voltage & see if it is low? Dropping 50% in UV output at around 100 hrs is no good. ![]() Bad picture, but you can see the size difference in the lamps. Supra is the center lamp.

A "larger" bulb just reduces heat build up. If the bed is cooled like krap, then using a larger bulb would work. Hell, the 600wl Supra is bigger and will light just fine in a 500w application.
So many companies are running their HP beds 200 watts lower than the printed material on the beds say now anyway.
