Default TanToday Layout Changes

Hi all! I am going to make some changes to the overall layout of the site (slightly altering threads and, in some cases, combining threads). Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up.

I just finished making a round of changes for the site in an effort to make it easier to navigate around the forums. Some things have moved around quite a bit and/or been renamed, so here is the breakdown:
  • What's Goin On at TanToday = TanToday Updates and Announcements
  • Newbie Lounge = New and Prospective Salon Owners
  • Canadian Forum = Canadian Salon Discussion
  • Lotion Talk = Tanning Lotions (located under the second block of forums, labeled "Salon Products, Equipment and Services").
  • Geeks with Meters = Meters (located under the third block of forums, labeled "Salon Technology").
  • T Max ADI Forum = Timers (located under the third block of forums, labeled "Salon Technology").
The reason for the changes is to make things more organized, in an effort to make it easier for new members to learn their way around TanToday. In addition, this should help ensure that people are posting in the area that is most appropriate for their comment/question.

I apologize to everyone that needs to re-learn the forum placement, but I'm hoping that things have been reorganized in a way that makes that process as easy as possible.

And here I just thought that I was going crazy when I logged in this afternoon and things weren't where they used to be! Well, maybe I'm just crazy anyway!!

I'm making more changes today--combining a few threads. You may have noticed that I just combined The Gold Mine with Salon Discussion. I will post an update of what has been combined when I am finished--just wanted to give everyone a heads-up before I combined more.

Alright, here's the breakdown:
  • "The Gold Mine" has been merged into Salon Discussion (and a few of the stickies in the Gold Mine have been relocated to the New and Prospective Salon Owners forum, since they are geared directly toward newbies).
  • The "High Pressure" and "VHOR Laydowns and Standups" forums have been merged into one forum, called Tanning Equipment.
  • "Meters" and "Timers" are now one forum, called Meters and Timers. (I know, terribly clever of me. )
  • "Talking Sports" has been merged into The Pub.
Just like the other changes, these mergers should make the site easier to navigate and should help new members identify where their posts would be most appropriately placed.

And, this was the last of the layout changes (except for creating a private forum).

Danielle this is crazy. I know someone has already expressed their opinion on this but dumping all equipment in one forum IMO will not work.

We are working on creating sub-forums for both HP and VHOR within the Tanning Equipment parent forum so as to streamline the look of TanToday while still making those separate areas available for all users. I apologize that all threads were dumped into one forum instead of into the sub-forums originally--it was a mistake and we are working to fix it asap.

Thanks Danielle. I know it's a tough thing to work on and make everyone happy at the same time. No one likes change. Especially us died in the wool salon owners. We're a tough bunch.

This is a time for letting them know what needs to be done NOT being mushy mouth right now. Sorry but from what I am seeing this thing is going in the wrong direction. Certain things need to be grouped together and they were done for a reason. Changes are fine if it is for the betterment of something.

Oh well what do I know anyway? I am just a hillbilly from the south. Carry on.

I'll chime in and put my .02 in. Some of the changes aren't right, but merging the equipment ones I don't see a problem with. There aren't enough topics/posts in either one for them to be seperate. Many people still don't know the difference between HP and non hp.

The Tanning Equipment forum has been re-set--all posts under that forum are those that used to appear in the VHOR forum, and there is separate sub-forum for High Pressure. Thanks to everyone for your patience!

Can I meter a bed with a timer? Or can I time a bed with a meter? Hmmm.
