I think it was a very bad move taking 70% of your daily post people privileges away and taking away their den place. The mod thing is one thing but to take away the place where they could talk in a forum in privacy is another.
Looks like the only person that has mod status is Din. Taking away Brian who gave a spice to the site and no hold punches was a huge mistake.
I personally dont care if you took the status away from me but others cared.

I can care less one way or another who is a mod and who isn't. The problem with some of the old mods is they were the single reason many people lurk instead of posting. They are the reason manufactures stay off the site. It's one thing to give criticism, it's another to say some of things some have said about their beds/products. Unfortunately, I'm speaking of a select few and not all of the former mods.

If I or any other regular member says something out of line, it's the mods job to police that, not instigate a fist fight. This industry is full of crooked/shady people, but there are plenty of good people in it as well. Unfortunately this site has let the bad side show far too long and guess what, THE PUBLIC READS. There is a fine balance that needs to be kept to keep the conversations going. Unfortunately, I think there has been a little too much editing going on.

I have no problem with any of the mods here. The only thing I would request is that the mods not be a representive of a manufacturer or distributor of tanning products. I feel this can also turn potential posters away.

Yes, salon owners can & will be biased also, but when someone is constantly pushing product names down posters throats it is a bit unappealing.

Matthew the Phatt:

I still think Entropy bed looks nice though... shiny square edged formed metal.

There were 18 mods for a site of this size plus several people from Looking Fit. They pared the mods down to 8 is all. It wasn't done to upset anyone and it was a very difficult decision because everyone was well liked and had things to offer. They just could not keep all of them.

All of the current mods were already mods before so no one was added new. Hopefully we will all do a good job just making sure the content stays clean and people don't get personally attacked. That is what was keeping new posters away. Ultimately this site is to help salon owners, both new and existing and if someone is afraid to post because of a backlash then that defeats the purpose of the site.

Matt - you and the other ex-mods are awesome and we love you! Hope you stick around!

It looks like Looking Fit is trying to clean up the house a little. A lot of people didn't like posting or reading because of the way they were treated when asking questions. I agree, mods ahould not be selling or representing Manufacturers.

Yeah this a tanning salon owner site so the mods should represent salon owners not manufacturers. Manufacturers should be here to interact with salon owners but the shouldn't be mods at least that is the way things used to be.

All of the current mods are salon owners. Some of them are also sponsors of the site, which helps fund the site. To my knowledge there are no mods that are manufacturers.

I loved the spice, but hated the bias opinions from the sales people(lotion, equipment, bulbs ect...). I still love this site no matter what!

I'm assuming you are talking about Dean and me. I agree there would be a problem if we used our mod status to promote our products but we don't. We treat everyone fairly and help out a lot so I'd like to know what the problem is?? Just because we happen to have a side business that might be of interest to salon owners does that mean we don't have the integrity to be able to moderate fairly?

Kathe,

I outposted some mods that were left in.

When some only posted 50-100 so far this year, I think they should have been ousted but they are not.

If the mods that are still in currently out posted me or had similar amounts, it would not bother me at all.

Daniel, if you can get my email off the Looking Fit , I would appreciate it.....it is staff@20minutetan.com

Im not sure I understand the move but looking at your magazine and how thin it is .. Who is running the show over there? They should be fired.
Im thinking it cost you 25k a month to put out a magazine and looking at the ads I dont think you even have that coming in revenue of gross sales a month.
Why continue the magazine
As I mentioned in another thread, there are now 8 mods (not just Din). The current mods include:

Shane
Beach Bum
Natureboy
Macdaddy
Din
Frankie
Sparky
Kathe

Also mentioned in another thread, we are incoporating a private forum for the entire site, which is intended to be a place where salon owners can discuss things without concern that others can read what they post. The Den was not created to be a private place for people to discuss--aside from the moderators using it to discuss moderating.

Number of posts were not the only thing looked at when making our decision.

I can take you off of the e-mail list ... I'm thinking you mean for our e-newsletter, correct? (I just need to know what list so that I can have you taken off.)

It doesn't make a difference to me if I am a mod or not. But just my 2 cents worth here, "A Private Forum will not encourage the former mods to post sensitive info" They did so because they knew who was in the den and that they were not competition. ~shrug~

I would prefer not to post on any thread that is public. How/when will we know when these areas are ready? Will they be by invitation only?

There will be another section on the site that will require you to specifically register for that section (by providing us with more information, we will be able to verify who is allowed into the private area). It will not be invitation-only, it will be open to anyone who is a verified salon owner, manufacturer or distributor.

I definitely understand that, Ziti. But, that's really not what the Den was created for.
