I'm laughing right now... This 50 post rule is hilarious... Just verify that he's an owner and get on with it...
A good 80% of the members here don't post anyways...and the people who don't post now won't post later, so stop wasting your time...

Any given person will disagree with any number of rules in life. The private forum rules are what they are, and you can follow them or stay out.
For myself, the only frustrating part is when a thread gets started in one forum, I participate, only to see it (presumably) get moved to the private forum and you're left wondering how the discussion concluded. I am beginning to wonder if it's worth it to post, never knowing if that thread will be moved or not. Aside from that, I guess it's not really a big deal. Although, admittedly, I've found myself wandering to TanToday's competitors for the first time in 1-2 years. |

I understand restrictions, but if you are going to include something in an email, perhaps it should be available to everyone that you send the email to.
it kinda like sending out a coupon but telling your customers if they havent tanned 50 times then they cant use it. perhaps i should make a new store policy.. you can not upgrade to a better bed unless you tanned in the lowest bed for 50 times? |

The funny part is...... This is not my agenda! I did'nt even start this silly post. But, I believe the rule is silly. I understand "somewhat" the irritability factor this may bring to the moderators that have to deal with answering the questions regarding the rules that they are tasked with enforcing. (<---- is that a run on sentence?) But, they have chosen to accept that role, and part of being a moderator should be objectively evaluating the actions and reactions related to this forum. If the answer is "thats the rules -- follow or leave, then simply state that, ending this discussion with post 1. If you want criticism constructive or otherwise, then accept it, evaluate it and act upon it.
This will be my last addition to this post -- its tired! |

I understand why there is a minimum posting rule for the private forum, so only users with serious & useful opinions/input may be granted access. These users are the ones that usually are the most helpful to any questions I might have & make TanToday what it is. But my concern was when I tried to grant access to it I was denied not only because I didn't have enough posts, but also because I am not a salon owner.
I have worked for 3 different salons in my career, have worked at this company in particular for 5 years, & been in the industry for 12 years, that's 1/2 my life...literally. I have a true passion for this industry, absolutely love what I do, & I know I will eventually make a difference in it one day--as corney as it sounds, it's true. I run all the operations of the salons, & the owners have handed over almost all control & decision making of the business to me. The only thing missing is my name being on the leases. But that is still not enough to be considered a "Pro". I understand that everyone in the forum has worked really hard as owners & this it is being treated as a privilege, but I feel I am just as much of a pro as you all. I do like to view the industry report each year, but was perplexed last night when I read the email & realized that I wasn't eligible to view it. As far as the minimum posting is concerned, I am trying to hit the magic number--hoping you all will make an exception--but with all I do on a daily basis for the salons it is very hard for me to make posts, but I do try to log on every day & read what's going on within the industry. Because I am young & not an owner, people do not take me as serious, so I have to work twice as hard to prove myself to everyone. That is okay by me, though, because I see it as a challenge and it just gives me motivation to work harder. ![]() |

This forum is for salon professionals which include owners and operators.
If she can be directly contacted at the salon she runs, She should be allowed when she gets 50 posts IMO. |

If there is no discussion, then people will not talk or learn or discuss the industry. Regulars on here that post, like me, were not always regulars or Moderators or whatever. We came on here to post and learn and discuss and we became what we are now. The forum is the same as always and anyone that wants to ask a question with their 2 or 3 posts, like they usually do, come on here to get an answer that they don't know, or to sell something...and that's it. Well to them, there is no need to be involved in the private forum. They come on and get what they need and leave. Anyone that is a member and actually has a discussion with people on here about the industry and our businesses, can get to 50 posts within a week no problem. Discussion is what keeps all forums alive. If everyone became lurkers, there would be no forums, no information...because nobody is sharing it. Start posting, start sharing....Get involved in the industry!

All you have to do is open a salon. When you invest $250k of your money, you'll see why you would be protective of what you have. In the meantime, the rest of the forum is available to you as it's always been.

Soooo, what do I have to do to get into the private forum?
I have my 50 posts..... I have a complete profile... I have sent a request for approval... I still haven't been given permission. I got my hand slapped previously because the moderators on here have to "call" and grant approval, and they are busy and will call me soon. But, I have waited almost a week now and still no approval, no phone call, no access.... So am I doing something wrong?????? |

I don't see you listed under waiting for approval. You may need to re-apply.
