I took some readings today in my 34 lamp Pro Suck 160/100 and got the following readings would you think I need to replace the acrylic?
With Acrylic: 5.0 39.4 6.0 1.39 3.53% 7.0 17.6 13.9 to 4 meds Without Acrylic 5.0 40 6.0 1.46 3.6% 7.0 19.0 12.6 to 4 meds Bed is a 12 min max and lamps have about 350 hours on them. What do you think? |

No not much difference there. The UVB is what mainly gets blocked by a solarized acrylic. With fresh lamps it is most likely coming in around 10-11 minutes. I would say if it was blocking more like 20% then get them changed.

I agree. Even brand spanking new acrylic absorbs 5-10% of UVB and MED/hr. Your readings are fine... small loss.
Note to newbies: See that 5.0 readings are basically the same with / without acrylic. This is because almost ALL UVA transmits thru both new and old acrylic (unless it is so bad to be yellow and cracked!). But 6.0 or 7.0 readings DO drop off as acrylic gets old.
