I do. When I tell them the good news about tanning and Vitamin D and they start in with the nonsense, I remind them that you only have to tan for about 40% of the full tan time to get your Vitamin D for the day.
then I point to the small posters I have in every room stating how long you need to be exposed to the UV for to get optimal Vitamin D production (hint it's about .80MED and about 8600IUs regardless of the tanning bed cause it's based on MED.) |

Just read the lower half of Model 6.4 page: Welcome to Solartech
1 MED = 1000 IU on 10% body so 8000 IU on 80% body surface. Those are CIE 210 J/mē MEDs so they will not correlate directly with a Model 7.0 MED/hr meter which is based on 156 J/mē MEDs. That is only for type 2 skin, no tan, age 20. For higher skin types, more percent base tan, older ages the IU goes down quite a bit... which is why you need the interactive xls spreadsheet that comes with the meter. Ask UV2021 what he thinks.

Also it's not exact cause if you set the timer for 20min and tan the last 9 you'll get different results than just tanning for 9min. Readings are done when the bed is warmed up (fyi).
Doesn't really matter anyway. It's all good. |
