I have a bed that is about 3 years old. At 2 years old this bed's main board was fried and had to be replaced. I had to fight with the manufacturer to get the part covered under warranty because we were a couple weeks over the 2 year warranty. Here we are less than a year after that part was replaced...and the SAME part is toast again. We are talking about an $850 part. They are refusing to replace the part or even pay to figure out the problem (there is clearly a defect here, wouldn't you say?).
What do you guys say....am I just SOL or should these guys step up and work with me. |

How's your voltage? is it consistent? If the voltage is good and there isn't a major fluctuation, then I'd say they make some crappy boards.

A decent circuit board would have some capacitors to help regulate voltage drops and spikes, especially from bed start up.
Thought. Does the board have a small fuse? I am running into a problem with my LP3 and its radio. Startup causes a voltage spike and with a 1amp fuse it goes out. 2 amp fuse ok, but it pops at the speakers when starting.

If there is a pattern (History) with the manufacturer then yes they should cover it. If the board is under a year old then they should cover it as well. No need to blast them.....yet but what bed is it?

The bed has a little over 1000 hours on it. I'm just not sure where to go from here. I am afraid of spending the money to fix it, only to have it break again.
The group that installed the bed are the ones coming to fix it. They are the ones talking with KBL and are telling me KBL refuses to send me another board without me paying $850 for it. |

Try calling Jason w/ KBL(314-409-7945) he is pretty fair. But you have to fix it, customers obviously like it. The unit is out of warranty, but see if they can sell at a discount and you install it yourself. Also keep old board and try Mountain electronics they repair comp. boards for the laundry industry, and I have sent many including 3 tanning boards. Maybe if you do not mind it being down send the board to get repaired and wait it out, repair will run about $100.

Always hated big circuit boards in tanning units. Your other bed will blow the same board sooner or later. Its just a matter of time and the nature of the beast. Yes, you can buy a whole computer for the cost of one of these mother boards from most of the Companies that use them. Hell, you got lucky they covered it the first time. I remember the old days when you didnt have all these problems. Do we really need misters, aroma, tv etc?
Heartland did buy a bunch of KBL parts from Sonnenbraune when they went under so depending on the bed they might have the board at a cheaper price. |

maybe a power problem that comes and goes..
but since it is the same bed twice. I would have them double check all the connections see if a cap or bolt has worked loose. |
